I’m Lisa Underwood. As an artist and instructor, my work is about self-care and connections. Engaging students and clients is very important to me. The process of creating in a group, or alone, has a natural way of letting us connect with one another and ourselves.

I start each project with a sketch and then decide which art form best suits the piece. My favorite art forms are illustration, painting, and mixed media (including quilling). I love the beautiful simplicity of graphite and love the sensational textures of mixed media. Nature and my textile design experience are huge influences in my work. I have moved away from realistic illustration and currently create stylized, abstract pieces.

Since I explore different media, I challenge myself to visually connect the various art forms. I want to see flow and connection.
