sue salvaterra hintz

Sue Salvaterra Hintz learned how to make pottery at UNCA and started her business in 1996.  Since then, the business has taken several turns.

Sue prefers to work at the potters’ wheel and has always created functional work.  She develops all of her own glazes and overlaps them to create interesting landscapes.  Her latest work is crystalline.

Since her early days at UNCA she has taken many workshops to develop her skills and to learn the business of selling art.  Most of her years have been spent in her home based basement studio and most recently moved to a commercial building in Weaverville, NC.

A few years ago, her husband joined the business, and it was renamed Salvaterra Pottery and Woodworks, previously Salvaterra Pottery.

Sue’s husband, Randy, creates wood pieces from furniture to cutting boards and many home decor pieces.  You may see much of their work on their website, potsandwood.com
